About us

Nobody reaches their potential alone.

Tyin Laces connects athletes with mentors — people who’ve played, coached, or supported athletes at every level — so every young person chasing a sporting dream has someone to help them tie their own laces.

Why we started weaving

Behind almost every athlete who reaches their potential is someone who showed them the way — a former player, a coach, a mentor who’d already walked the road. Not everyone has easy access to that person. Sport can be isolating: the pressure to perform, the setbacks, the comeback from injury, the question of what’s next — often carried alone.

Tyin Laces exists to close that gap. We built a place where athletes across all sports and levels can find a mentor who understands exactly what they’re going through, and where experienced players, coaches and specialists can give back to the sport that shaped them.

We’re launching in Aotearoa New Zealand, built by Saia Limited (trading as Tyin Laces), with mentors from Australia, the UK and the US joining as we grow. The name is our promise: mentors help athletes start lacing up, work through the tangled parts together, and eventually tie their own laces — ready for whatever’s next.

What we believe

Mentorship, not just coaching

A mentor isn’t there to run your drills — they’ve walked the path you’re on and can help you think, not just train. Technique matters, but so does the mental game, the setbacks, and knowing someone’s in your corner.

Safety comes first

Every mentor completes identity verification before they can be booked, and NZ Police vetting before they can work with under-18 athletes. All contact stays in-platform, and sessions run through Lessonspace with recording consent for under-18 athletes. No shortcuts here.

Weave your own way

There’s no single path to reaching your potential. Match with one mentor or several, across as many sports and focus areas as you need — you set the pace.

Give back through Koha

Our Koha plan connects athletes with mentors who volunteer their time for free — and half of every Koha dollar goes to a sports charitable trust, so the next generation gets the same shot.
